essential tee, Gap, $4.19
Halogen skirt, Nordstrom Rack

My friend described my tee as "va-va voom" yellow, which is, admittedly, more fun to say than neon yellow.
I'll admit to not thinking much about which pair of glasses best complements an outfit (I go with the old brown ones most of the time), but the bold black frames seemed like the only choice for this outfit.
Three ways I've worn my houndstooth skirt: with jade accessories, with lace, and with an embellished tank and red cardigan.
what a FUN combination! and some days loudness is just the right thing!

BOOM! I love it! Bright yellow is a color I love, but that is not the best right up next to my face, so I love seeing people who CAN wear it actually wear it. That was a long bewildering sentence. Point: you look awesome.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ally! I've realized that houndstooth pairs nicely with just about any color. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, dotty! Yes - some days need a loud outfit. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erin! I love a good long, bewildering sentence. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Tiffany! :) Good to know that I am not the only jeans-lover out there ...
ReplyDeleteIn a month or two I will be working full-time after being a grad student for two years, so it will be interesting to see how I deal with getting dressed everyday. I'm thinking about limiting myself to jeans once a week!
When I bought this houndstooth skirt, I had no idea how versatile it would be. It pairs well with just about any solid color. I haven't done much pattern-mixing yet, besides pairing it with lace, but I think it has potential there too.
Such a cute outfit! I love the combination of yellow and your b/w houndstooth skirt :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nnenna! I think this is one of my favorite outfits with my houndstooth skirt. :)
ReplyDeleteI like this outfit the best, although your previous one with the red cardigan is also really fun. I think black and white just begs to be paired with a bright color!

I plan to go to law school next year and I've heard that grad students dress really casually. I hope I don't get stuck in the sweatshirt and jeans rut again lol.
ReplyDeleteI definitely see pattern mixing potential although I've never seen anyone do it with hounds-tooth. You can be an innovator!
