       I've been trying to avoid wearing this skirt every week, but it's hard to do - now I know why so many people love Target skirts. The only thing that would make it better was if the lining was cotton vs. polyester, but since I found this on the sale rack I really can't complain.
        Random news #1: I can't believe that I've been with my kiddos for more than a month! The first semester ends in just a few weeks, which means report cards loom, and our one-week intersession begins Oct. 7.
       Random news #2: Something happened yesterday that made me smile. During our social studies lesson, I was guiding the students through a comparison of a Hawaiian legend and the scientific explanation of island formation in our textbook. One of my kids pointed out, without prompting, that I had just demonstrated a reading strategy when I reread part of the legend to confirm my information. I always fret about what they're retaining or using from what I teach, but it seems they *are* listening and learning (big sigh of relief and happiness).
