3 things that are making me happy lately ...
1. Lightened-up chocolate chip scones (I used this recipe). I'll admit that I don't know what a "real" scone is supposed to be like, texture-wise - light and fluffy? crumbly? These are on the substantial side, as they include whole wheat flour. Alas, this recipe just furthers my obsession with cooking/baking with buttermilk, which began when I decided to make buttermilk pancakes with my summer school classes.
2. Walking into a fabric store on Saturday, for the first time in years. Ah, the sweet smell of fabric ... and the sweet prices of 50% off cotton in fun prints. :) True, it's not as affordable as Wal-mart, but the quality is exponentially better, and it's good to support your local fabric shop.
3. Having a stack of great books to read this week. I've already started Kristin Cashore's "Fire"; Cashore's "Bitterblue" and Haruki Murakami's "1Q84" are the other two books I plan to start (and finish) this week. :)
Ooo, those scones look delish! Tell me what you think of 1Q84 when you finish- I've heard pretty good things! :)
ReplyDeleteNnenna - I'll put up a little post when I'm done. :) I thought some of Murakami's latest works were just OK, but didn't wow me ... so I have high hopes for this one. :)
ReplyDeleteI've also heard of 1Q84 as a great read :) Would love to hear a review :)
