blush and berry

silk top, Off Fifth
cardigan, Old Navy
Indigo Rein jeans, Macy's
scarf, Ross

I'm slowly warming up to the idea of wearing pink, but still don't any pink accessories. The scarf's colors don't match the top, but I think they work because they belong to the same color family. This outfit was one I felt particularly good in - I enjoyed pairing casual pants and a cozy cardigan with the more polished top and scarf.

I usually prefer to wear this top on its own to show off the draping and asymmetric hem, but a recent spate of windy, cool weather made the cardigan necessary. I thought the open cut and longer length let the shirt's details peek out.

Spring Break is coming! It starts Wednesday and I'm already anticipating time to read, bake, and relax. I also plan to clean out my classroom in preparation for my move at the end of the school year.

flutter + edge

I'm still learning to like blush pink, but I really like all the details of this top - the fluttery asymmetric hem and the pretty drape. I've always wanted to pair it with my skinny cargo pants - I thought the soft top might contrast nicely with the zippers and snaps.

My classroom has an extra splash of pink this week, thanks to the lovely flowers shown below.
My school celebrated Teacher Appreciation Day last Friday and one of my students brought me these two plants. I also got a card with thoughtful, encouraging comments that reminded me of why I wanted to become a teacher.

flower power

BLACK Saks Fifth Avenue silk top, Off Fifth
Love Fire pants and Carole agate necklace, Nordstrom Rack

Instead of power dressing, why not try flower dressing? I wore this to work the other day and felt a little like a tulip, which isn't a bad thing when I'm feverishly compiling my data binder.
I'm still not convinced that blush doesn't translate to blah on me. I love this color on other people, but I'm not used to seeing myself in pastels. What drew me to this top, however, was the interesting cut and draping. I think it's one of those items of clothing that looks better in motion.
