the power of pink

tee, Gap
petite skirt, Ann Taylor
belt in "neon azalea," J. Crew Factory

It takes me longer to take unimpressive photos with my iPhone than it does to set up my camera and focus it. Forgive/ignore the cluttered background ...
I considered wearing a brown belt, but figured that a pink belt was needed to counteract the brain-straining effects of an all-day math standards workshop scheduled for a Monday. The skirt is a little shorter than I prefer for work, but for a non-instructional day it was just fine.  I'm glad that I fished it out of mom's donations bag! (Better photos of the skirt - paired with coral - are here).
What do you wear to cheer yourself up during a long day at work?

  1. I wore necklaces when I was young to help me get through school. I'm still driven crazy by all the sitting still and insane boredom; I think that's where the outfit designing frenzy comes from!

  2. Neckties save my mental sanity. Mine are colorful and artistic. Love the pink belt.

  3. I'm glad you went with the pink belt---it elevates the outfit. J Crew belts are pricey; are they worth the money?

  5. Agreed! I'm still not a die-hard pink lover but I have felt an urge to pick up a few more pink accessories - it's definitely a happy color.

  6. Brittney - I got this on final sale for about $10. That's much more than I'd usually pay for a belt, but I was intrigued by the color. I haven't worn it enough to really put it to the test but so far, so good!

  7. I'd love to take a peek at your necktie collection - and see you style one as part of a girly outfit! :) I find the vibrant colors and sumptuous fabrics of neckties so appealing.

  8. Aya - I think bracelets and rings serve the same function for me - I find that fiddling with them can sometimes be a big help. :)

  9. Three years ago I did a blog post showing a few of my neckties. Have a look! http://shybiker.livejournal.com/29150.html
