I'm alive! And I'm also exhausted and slightly overwhelmed and I've probably lost a few pounds from working so hard and skipping meals. Monday was the first day of school, and, to be frank, I spent it in a state of disbelief - I kept thinking, "Am I really a teacher again?" It was strange to be doing something I haven't done for two years. But my second day was much better - I felt that I was getting into the groove and getting to know my students a little bit more.
All of the routines and procedures that we need to maximize our learning time are not quite in place yet, but I'm working hard and adjusting my plans each night to address things before they grow into bad habits.
One thing I'm not loving about my new workplace is how warm it is - I started the day with my hair down, but gave up halfway through and pulled it back. But I am loving my class and my colleagues so far - it's wonderful to have fellow teachers who are interested in my ideas and in sharing resources.
Life is good, I just need a nap ... and words cannot express how excited I am that today's Wednesday! Friday, here I come. :)
I love the dress you are wearing :) Sounds like you are having a lot of fun at school :) Keep eating :) You need the energy to keep up with the kids :)

Classy! I like the narrow belt the way you've done it- I've always worried about thin belts bisecting me into chunky halves, but your look here is both visually interesting and streamlined.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Aya! I see what you mean - a skinny belt can be unflattering, but I think wearing it a little looser so it makes a slight V shape makes the outfit look more steamlined. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Katrina! Dressing up for work makes me feel better and more confident - definitely what I need when working all day with 26 awesome kiddos. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kat! I love a great thrifted dress. Don't worry, I'm on a weekend trip to Seattle and putting back some weight ... we started the day with chocolate croissants. :)
ReplyDeleteomg I love your dress!! the belt is perfectly styled :)

What subject and grade level do you teach, Carrie? I can tell that you must love your work and I'm glad that there are motivated teachers like you out there.

Brittney - I teach 4th grade. :) What a sweet compliment - There are some not-so-great teachers out there but the vast majority of educators love what they do. :)
ReplyDeletethank you! :)
