Try-it-out Tuesday: neon coral = traffic cone orange?

J. Crew Factory girls' long-sleeve stripe sequin tee, $10.49
buttondown, Gap
same ol' jeans, Ross
Seiko watch, gift
oia jules bracelet, giveaway win

I am entirely unsure that the world is ready for this shirt. I'm not sure I'm ready for it, either, so I layered it under a white buttondown to tone it down a bit. Coral to me implies a hint of pinkness, but it seems J. Crew Factory went easy on the pink and heavy on the orange.

This is my second time trying out coral. Years ago I bought a lovely coral cardigan, but the color scared me and I ended up donating it. The color is still a little out of my comfort zone, but I'm already looking forward to pairing it with my turquoise skinnies as well as one of my printed skirts.
What color are you a little afraid of, but willing to experiment with?

  1. I used to be afraid of pink, but I eased into it with dusty pinks, and now I carry my hot pink Barbie purse most weeks. Now I'm trying to do the same with highlighter yellow. So I bought the same style purse as the Barbie in super neon yellow! Accessories for the win!

  2. Erin - You have to feature your Barbie purse and highlighter yellow one on your blog sometime - would love to see 'em. :)

  3. I can even imagine you being afraid of colors like this, color just looks so amazing on you. (This coral is really pretty. Seriously, you can wear any color!) I'm so impressed at what a good price you got on this shirt and it seems like it would be easy to pair it with either jeans or skirts. The turquoise skinny jeans seem like a fantastic idea, those colors would be so pretty together!

  4. Thanks, Katie! :) I think this will be a great addition to the closet, I just need to get used to seeing myself in it. Now I wish I hadn't given that coral cardigan away!
