Try-it-out Tuesday: summer layering

Summer layering? The idea makes no sense, particularly in very warm Hawaii. Nonetheless, I gave it a shot with the lightest layer I could think of ...

My inspiration:
Source: thisisnotnew.com via Carrie on Pinterest

My take:

Rafaella crinkle-silk blouse, thrifted, Goodwill
Studio M shirtdress, Macy's
cardigan, Banana Republic, from Mom
belt, Old Navy

I did wear the cardigan in class (the AC in that room is strange -- it's either freezing or warm and stuffy), but I thought it would be too much to wear the belt, too. It's one thing to unobtrusively extract a sweater from your bag, another thing entirely to extract a sweater and a belt ...

Note to self: remember, you can smile while wondering whether the camera's focused, or the exposure's right ...  :)
     Happy Tuesday!

  1. Very cute. Despite being Summer, a lot of buildings have very cold temperatures.

  2. Thank you! I don't mind if it's cold, but when it fluctuates from stuffy and stifling to frigid, that's kind of a pain. :)

  9. I love the look, too, but it's pretty impractical in the South! ;-)

  10. I agree, I can't do the belt over cardi look - I'm always fiddling with my cardis and undoing a belt just seems like too much trouble, haha. I adore the look though!

  11. i wear cardigans all the time and occasionally with a belt, depending on how much i ate or will eat for the day... sometimes it's just too much of a hassle. :)

hope you enjoy the weekend, carrie.

  12. Thanks, Lisa! Some things look cute in photos but don't translate into real life. For instance, I think bangles are so cute, but the jingling drives me crazy after a while.

  14. Thanks, Sherri. This will work better in the fall, but it's been hanging around my Pinterest board for so long, I had to give it a try.

  17. Cute! Love the light layers. It's been SO hot in Florida and layers are unimaginable, but I do usually carry a cardigan around in my purse because they blast the A/C everywhere!
