Rafaella silk shirt, thrifted from Goodwill for $4.99
denim pencil skirt, Old Navy
Dansko Sakura sandals, Nordstrom Rack
broken and randomly re-knotted necklace, Forever 21
beaded wrap bracelet, Macy's, very old
My hair is quite long and I'm not planning to cut it for another month. Initially, I thought it would be fun to find some cute new ways to wear it. I've figured out that: a) I have exponentially more hair than most of the folks posting these tutorials, which means more hair to fumble around with, and b) I have no patience for braiding my hair. Which means this very simple twisted ponytail is a big deal around here (it's OK if you're laughing). ;)After wearing this all day, I realized what a great outfit it would be for traveling stylishly. Lightweight crinkled silk shirt = easy to wash and wear as well as cool for hot days. Dark-wash denim pencil skirt = feminine but still comfortable. Chunky-heeled sandals = cool and perfect for walking tours. Add in some inexpensive jewelry and you've got an outfit.
Sadly, the only traveling I'll be doing this summer will be courtesy of some riveting books borrowed from the public library. I'm not complaining - it's a great way to spend some much-coveted free time. :)
Love the hair :) Youtube hair videos are addictive huh?

Hey there!
ReplyDeleteAfter much agonizing, I've finally set up my website. It's intended to be a style blog. Check it out:
http://styletestdummies.blogspot.com/
My models and camera are borrowed, but my text is original with my usual intermittent language skills and scattered typos. I am sorry I haven't yet mastered Spangarian yet. Please give me fourteen years to get there. No daily updates. At this point, it's more like weekly ones, but I have two enthusiastic photographers making serious sounding promises to me. Well, one is a juvenile still learning his camera. The other is more experienced. He is a self-thought photo enthusiast busy with other things. They both are skilled promise makers. I have yet to see photos from any of them. My one and only live model so far is Caroline, the niece. She has been busy at school. So, while lurking behind the scenes brandishing my smart camera that used to be almost top of the line about seven years ago, I really have to fight my folks to do the work for me. That's annoying. Sounds like a classic managerial type of position I've found myself in writing a blog.
Nice outfit by the way!

Lovely shirt! I'm totally with you on the thick hair. Everyone else loves it, but we're the ones who have to deal with it!

This is a great look, Carrie! And I think your hair looks really cute. I share your frustration with hair tutorials. It never works for me!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Maria! I just joined your blog and will be popping over again to check out your posts. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kat! I do enjoy watching them, it's just frustrating to try it out on my own hair and get a mess instead of something cute. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katie! The tutorials make it look so easy ... but it never comes out quite right! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the sweet comment and follow, Jasmine! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erin! I don't wear this shirt enough, but I think it will be getting a lot of use this summer. :) You're right about the thick hair - I am grateful for it, but wouldn't mind having a professional stylist to blow it out/braid it/make it look pretty everyday. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree. Very frustrating!
