CREATE: Fortunate February's donation

Just a little update on my February budget donation: at first I was thinking it would go to the Hawaii Foodbank, which I usually try to donate to several times a year. However, while reading my school librarian listserv e-mails this morning, I saw this request. Basically, this librarian has $0 in funding and dozens of avid readers on her hands. As a teacher and school-librarian-in-training, one of the most rewarding things I do is connect children to books and foster a love of reading. My $30 is only a fraction of what is needed to stock the library, but I'm sure it will be put to good use. :)

  1. That's fantastic of you! I have a gal pal who is an elementary school teacher in the SW and she literally spends hundreds to thousands of her own money each school year just so her kids have access to books and basic supplies. It's a shame this goes on!

  4. Thanks, Lisa. :) When I was a classroom teacher I did the same thing as your friend. Hand sanitizer, pencils, books, field trip fees ... it adds up after a while!

  5. Thanks, Kat! There are so many great projects to choose from; I deliberately didn't check any other ones out because I knew it'd be too hard to decide!

  6. Thank you! A well-stocked library is something I enjoyed as a child, but once I began teaching I realized how many kids don't have the same experience!
