Try-it-out Tuesday: the versatility of red

Way back when (OK, maybe a year or so ago), I thought black or brown were the best colors for things like shoes, jackets, or anything you would end up wearing often. I figured it matched everything and no one would notice how often you wore it. Color was pretty, but seemed impractical.
This cardigan has changed my mind.
JJ Basics cardi, AE camisole.
While I've paired this camisole with stripes before, I like how pairing it with red makes the bright colors in the camisole's floral print pop. (Florals might need to be added to the list of surprisingly practical items too!)
Forever 21 flower ring
For a dash of whimsy I added my flower ring (a garden can never have too many flowers, right?) I also put on faux-pearl studs from Forever 21 and a classic pearl pendant.
Pearl necklace (previously worn by mom)

Happy Tuesday! What's something you once thought was impractical, but now can't live without?

  1. I also used to not think of many colors as "neutrals" and while they might not be in the true sense of the world they really pair with so much more than I thought! Love the combo of your cardigan and your top!

  2. I never thought the Leopard print or really any print (aside from stripes) could be neutral, but I have learned through all the lovely blogging ladies that leo print can work with many things, just like a neutral would.
I'm kind of scared of red, it think its so pretty, but I never buy it because I fear the color is too vibrant and recognizable to remix...but now I'm rethinking that.

  3. @Skippy - Thank you! It's refreshing to get out of the "black matches everything" mindset. :)

@Olivia - I think using a print as a neutral really draws out someone's personal sense of style - because everyone does it differently. I hope you take the plunge with red! :)

  4. I am loving your mom's pearl necklace so much! It's so hard to find small and delicate affordable jewelry like that. And I am most definitely feeling you on the way that cardigan brings out those red flowers, Carrie!

A classic necklace is always nice.
A classic necklace bummed off mom for free - a must have. :)
