happy Monday, vol. 30: {you're gonna lose a leg! edition}

3 things that are making me happy lately ...
1. That I was wearing my trusty, beaten-up pair of glasses when that can of Fix-a-Flat I was trying to use sputtered stinky-smelling stuff all over me, including my face. Yikes. I'm also glad I noticed that reaaaallly flat tire while pulling out of my driveway and that it didn't go flat while I was on the road. My mom was appalled when I mentioned that I had put the spare tire on my car once, years ago, when I lived in California. She started talking about how cars fall on people and people lose their leg in such accidents.
2. Topping off lunch at the library on Friday with a gargantuan piece of lemon crunch cake (see it here) from The Alley. You don't expect gourmet eats out of a bowling-alley restaurant, but I've heard great things about their food, and this cake was a nice introduction to the menu. :) Moist and lemony, with some caramely, crunchy bits on top for some nice textural contrast.

3. Hair styling tutorials usually baffle me, but I did manage to braid part of my hair and pin it into place, leaving the rest of my hair down. Elementary, I know, but a triumph for me. :)

  2. Wait, was she talking about the car falling off the jack on people's legs? (I'll admit, I'm always secretly scared of that happening.) I'm glad your tire made it all of the way, it's always easier trying to pump air into the tire rather than having to change it out. :) (And nicer doing it in a parking lot than on the side of the road!)

  3. Yes, she was worried about the jack giving way. :) I found a mobile service that came and put the spare on (after hauling the spare up the street to fill it with air since it was flat too!)

  4. Thanks, Annie! The cake was amazing - I really shouldn't have eaten the whole piece, but I did. :) And I'm still clueless about how to style my hair besides flatironing the heck out of it ...
