Try-it-out Tuesday: old & new & 1 year down

It wasn't boiling hot the other day, which meant I eagerly decided to wear this linen buttondown. If I could live in buttondowns and jeans, I would.

necklace, handmade and gifted by Camille Yanair (she has some other pretty necklaces in her Etsy shop here)

My blog is 1 year old today, and it's interesting to think about how much my style has changed while staying the same. What do I mean? Well, this outfit is my default style, with a mess of bracelets and a pretty necklace thrown in. I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

On the other hand, having a blog has pushed me to experiment and step out of my comfort zone. Case in point: a few days later, I took the same linen buttondown and challenged myself to wear it in a different way. Paired with a Southwestern-ish patterned skirt (thrifted for $4.99), I felt a little like a cowboy. I think it's the snap buttons and pointy pocket flaps that put that into my mind.

I am amazed at how quickly one year has flown by. :) Thank you to everyone who has stopped by to offer a kind word or constructive feedback!

  1. Happy Blog Anniversary, Carrie!

Also, that skirt is fabulous; I love that second outfit. Actually, I love the first too. I can't wait until it's cool enough to wear bell bottoms.

    Congrats again on one year.

  4. Thanks, Katie! :)
I like this skirt, too, but I definitely need to layer some leggings under it the next time I wear it to class ... I just about froze in our super-cold A/C.

  6. Thanks, Gracey! :)
Hmm, bell bottoms ... I have a cheapie light-colored pair, but I was looking at your pins of bell bottoms and realized I would love a dark-wash pair too ...
