Little Facts

1. The Body ... well, when I read this, the first thing that popped into my mind was "body of knowledge." Occupational hazard, I suppose, of free-lance editing academic journal articles. I've figured out that editing journal articles is a fun way to learn and get paid for it.
2. Peeve: people who don't know when to stop talking. Like the guy in my history of libraries class who is always talking to his friend in an undertone while the teacher is saying something. Is it just me, or is that rude?
3. Allergy: I am allergic to people who complain of boredom. I was raised to entertain myself, so I don't think I'm ever really bored. I always suspect these bored people of lacking some inner reserves. (I don't know what's in that inner reserve, exactly, but I think theirs is empty!) I also suspect that their bookshelves are empty, or that they *gasp* don't own or borrow books.
I am also horribly allergic to grass. Which means that while most people are sniffing delightedly at the air after the grass is cut, I'm cringing and trying to remember whether I took all of my allergy meds.

  2. I am also quite irritated by people who don't know when to shut their mouths. I went to a play and there were 3 middle-aged women behind me talking out loud- not even attempting a whisper. SO rude!

  3. Thanks for dropping by, Kassi! Oh, trying to enjoy a play while 3 people yak behind me would have left me definitely irritated.

  4. Thanks for dropping by, Rebecca! I think I get even more irritated by people talking because I've taught elementary school and would have no problem in my classroom reminding that person to zip their lips ... but I suppose college profs are more tolerant!

  5. I agree with you completely ! People who would go on and on and those who complain about boredom - I bear with them patiently, but I feel that they are not happy inside .

  6. haha...looks like you're allergic to my son...he is always complaining of boredom when he has a thousand and one things to do. It gets really annoying sometimes especially during the school holidays. I hate the feel of grass but I the smell of fresh cut grass...my skin gets itchy when my skin comes into contact of grass but I don't think it's an allergic reaction, it's just the eeky feeling.

  9. Mongs - maybe it's a generational thing? I think people under a certain age live at a different pace, due to technology. When everything happens instantly, or at least a lot faster, you need more going on to keep you feeling busy.

  10. Annie -- I wish there was a socially appropriate way to tell people to zip it. :)
