February Freeze, vol. 5: chambray + a splash of animal print

I'm enjoying this dress-simply kick I've been on for the last few days. While I really love creative pattern mixing, I'm still too new at it and end up looking like a mess instead of marvelous. I don't wear this chambray tunic much, but I'm starting to see its possibilities. :) I was inspired by Linda of Little Tin Soldier's outfit here.
 Velvet Heart tunic, Ross (old)
Beau skinnies, Ross (old)
snake print fabric belt (from dress)
hoop earrings, Old Navy (old)
Micro-ruffles and subtle yet sparkly earrings

Speaking of simple, the Mr. and I had a quiet Valentine's night. I had planned to pick up some mochi ice cream on the way to his house, but when I drove past the ice cream place, there was a line spilling out the door onto the sidewalk. We have a mutual dislike of crowds, so he's just going to have to wait until the weekend for his treat. ...
Luckily, he had picked up a chocolate cheesecake. We traded Valentine's Day cards, watched some Stephen Colbert, and spent some quality time with each other (and the cheesecake, of course). :)

  12. a lovely way to spend valentine's day. It's not what you do but who you are with that matters isn't it? You missed the ice cream but at least you still have the yummy cheese cake! The chambray top is nice with the little details and you add a pretty touch with the scarf belt!

  15. I love this tunic! I've been wanting something similar in the form of a dress for a while, they had some on RUelala today but I didn't log in right at 10 so...I lost out.

  16. Mmmm what a chocolaty delight!! And in cheesecake form? Yum!!

Anyway, I like the micro ruffle closeup. I usually steer clear from ruffles because I have broad shoulders but now that I think of it, I can do a tiny ruffle for a girly non-limebacker look!! Thanks

  17. Thank you for dropping by! I have broad shoulders for my size, too, but itty-bitty ruffles are definitely doable. :)

Also, this chambray shirt is just gorgeous on you! I love it tied with the print scarf--makes it look so young and fun. I can really see your style evolving since I started following you. I guess blogging is fun like that!
Anyway, I need to leave these page before I go out hunting for a chocolate cheesecake... my god that looks so good.

  36. Thanks for dropping by, Vanessa! The cheesecake was delicious ... the only problem was that the Mr. cuts such small pieces ... but I guess that's what's called portion control. :)
