       Breaking out this scarf to accessorize my green striped tee recently inspired me to pair it with something else green - this dress. Unfortunately, the material snags easily and is starting to show its age, but I've had fun experimenting with a green dress and plan to eventually get a better-quality replacement.

 
         Breaking out two of my default poses here - (1) the elbow on the dresser and (2) looking down.
Every time I'm standing in front of a camera and trying to figure out what to do with my hands, I'm reminded of "Talladega Nights," when Ricky Bobby is being interviewed and his hands keep floating up. Like him, "I'm not sure what to do with my hands." And I didn't notice before, but one of the other characters makes a crack about him having two first names, which I do as well!

           The hubby and I have been making good progress in getting me settled into our humble abode, including purchasing a leather office chair from Office Depot for less than $50 (score!) and doing some cleaning and rearranging. This little knit jacket emerged during the latter task - it had fallen behind a chest of drawers. I had forgotten I owned a short-sleeve jacket. I was quite pleased at its reappearance, as it will make a nice topper for days when it's too warm for long sleeves. One thing that surprised me is how tight the sleeves are. I really don't remember them being so snug. I suppose I shouldn't really be surprised, however, since that's a common fit problem for me ... a shirt will fit great everywhere else but be dangerously tight around my arms. I wish designers would take into account that the average woman doesn't have stick-person arms ...

            Stripes are one of my favorite patterns, but I've always been a little bit baffled by how to style this particular top. It just doesn't seem to match any of my necklaces - it seems like it would go well with a bold necklace like a bubble necklace. I'm pleased that it pairs well with this scarf, which doesn't get worn enough.
   

   

      I tried wearing the scarf untied to see whether it made me look long and lean, but no luck ... so I kept it as a loop.

take one, pass it on: day 1

     This is my second year doing February Freeze, and I was thinking about ways to mix it up. Then Sarah of Sarah's Real Life shared her Take One, Pass it On challenge, and bingo! New approach, no effort on my part. ;) So this week I'll be posting 5 outfits that carry on one item from the previous outfit.

     I keep meaning to belt this shift, but it's so comfortable as is. I did decide to add a bow, though! Both the scarf and sandals qualify as February Freeze items. 
     

dinosaurs & directors

      The print and colors of this scarf make me think of dinosaurs; I'm not sure quite why.
      I wore this last Friday for the readers theater performance. Directors always wear black, right? ; )
We had a decent turnout of parents and family members and the kids did well, although I didn't anticipate that due to nervousness they would lean on the library shelves behind them vs. standing up straight, and that they were going to speak really softly for the same reason. 
       I've been content to dress very simply lately, although I haven't abandoned stacks of accessories.  This is probably not "blog-worthy," but it is what I've been wearing. I'm just happy that it's been cool enough now and then to add a very light scarf to an outfit and not overheat.

        Opal is never a stone I really was drawn to, but after my friend K passed along her opal studs and these opal drop earrings, I've started to appreciate their slightly eerie luster. The milky white stone gleams with errant strands of pink and green, depending on the light.
